Perry Lake

Beautiful lake to go fishing on. Bass, crappie and channel cat are a few catches in this smooth lake. Fisherman's dream and a nice family fun trip. Forty Five minute commute from Enid is well worth the scenery and fun for the whole family. Barbecue, Camp-out and playground to enjoy the nature. Have a blast like we did! Life is what you make of it...

The story of the life in Enid, Oklahoma

Blogging all the new places I visit and creating a resource for the newcomers. And of course my opinionated thoughts. 😊

Club Thirty

This is a bar in town. I will probably never visit, but the locals go here to hang out and Calahan's Pub. So if you are looking for the night life you might try one of these.

On The Sidewalk Bar & Grill

Our FAVORITE by far in Enid! We had shrimp cocktail and they make their own cocktail sauce which is really good. I had the Caesar Salad and it was extremely fresh and tasty! He had salad with ranch that was great. For the main entree he had an Asian shrimp with Rice and scallops. It was a little spicy but not too bad. Very good! I had shrimp bruschetta and yea as a meal lol. But it was yummy! The service was excellent. I'm learning that in the small town of Enid the service is not slow. They just want you to enjoy your meal. When coming from the big city, always in a hurry and needing to sit all the other guests to rush you out the door. I'm getting used to the nice slow pace. Teaches me patience and stressed me out less! Our meal was about $60 but very well worth it. The atmosphere is pleasing with an Italian/French flare. They asked if we had reservations...we still were seated. They have a sidewalk patio or bar area as well as tables and booths. Located on the main square. We give it 4 1/2 stars, our favorite yet!

Enidbuzz.com

Ok so there is plenty to do in Enid! Cute events they sponsor from carnivals, music festivals, movie night @ the ballpark, etc. Keep a watch out for upcoming local events on Enidbuzz.com! Great way to join in become part of the community!

First Friday

On the square, the first Friday of every month, Enid vendors offer free food, free beverages and market their businesses. From what I understand it's kinda a big deal here. I will check it out and more details to come!

Leonardo's- Hands on science & art museum

The largest wooden playground castle. Take the kids! It's a must see and must do in Enid!

Health Center of Enid

The physicians assistants are very well talked up here in Enid. There are a ton of places to go in Enid for health care. Integris is big in Enid with healthcare facilities of all types. I seem to drive by quite a bit of them. For Vision, they say Enid Vision Center is the best place to get your eyes examined. For Dental, Dr. Morehart is highly recommended but kind of hard to get in to see. Second option is Dr. Taft at TLC Dental. Both of these are located on Willow. Hope this helps!

Scheffe Perscription Shop

This is the place to go in Enid. I don't ever have any Rx's but if ya do, locals all go here for some reason. They have Walgreens & Walmart but the elders of the community still go to this place. Hope this is helpful.

Enid, OK...Someone's garage...Cute

My boyfriend snapped a shot of this as we had a Sunday afternoon drive scoping out Enid. It's a very cute idea and adorable if ya ask me! He knows when to capture a good pic! Hope y'all are inspired!

Hope Outreach Thrift Store

Apparently this foundation helps the community of Enid. I went to an estate sale this morning here in Enid that Hope Outreach was having. The thrift store isn't that great but I did happen to come across $1.98 cookbooks that I will definitely be using! Some of the knick knacks are cool if you get lucky to find the newer stuff. I like to shop so it's always fun and never know what your gunna find. The prices here are very reasonable. We had a good time browsing!

Tiger Pawn

This pawn shop is across from Marqui's Furniture so ya have to pop in and see. Plenty of stuff to peak your interest and the prices are fair. Maybe haggle with them a little...that's the fun part of pawn shopping to me anyways. Lots of cool stuff from swords, collectibles, jewelry, hunting gear, tv's, games, etc. Just another place to see if you can find something cool!

Marquis Furniture

This is an upscale resale of furniture in Enid, OK. Very cool finds from antiques to rustic furniture. I really enjoyed the neat furniture they have here. Some beautiful pieces worth a pretty penny. They know how to pick the good stuff, however I'm sure they do not sell much at those prices in this small town. Not that the prices are out of the ballpark for the fancy treasures. Great place to go check out. I found quite a few things I wanted.

The owner explained to me the building was Enid's first Opera House. And that the first roller skating rink was in the basement. Neat!

Cantellays Produce

The locals consider this the place to go for produce. Fresh and reasonable prices. It's a small little market to gather the healthy varieties. The fruit is really good from Cantellays. Try it for a change :)

Enid Farmer's Market

Fresh bread, fresh produce, home-made pies and cookie pops. Not a huge variety to choose from but at least it is fresh. No growth hormones and really nice tomatoes. The pies and bread are $8 each and you can get veggies $1 per pound. Not too shabby! Very small market...And what they don't have Cantellays Produce will.

Cher Dens Bakery

The best peanut brittle we have ever had!! Everything is home-made here and it's where all the locals get their cakes made. $3.50 per bag of peanut brittle and it's the bomb! I can't wait to try one of everything here...hit the sweet spot and shop the vintage collectibles while you wait. Sweet spot to find...score!

Movies

Ok so recently I watched "Mud" I give it 4 thumbs up! Pretty good movie! I enjoyed it and will watch it again. Another movie "Playing for Keeps" was great...I usually am not still long enough to watch a movie all the way through but these kept my interest up. Hope y'all enjoy them as much as I did...grab a bag of popcorn and treat yourself to a relaxing night :)

Volunteer & Give

So far YWCA is a womens shelter that you can help out with donating time, material or money. As well as the local nursing home on 30th street, Enid Senior Care Center. The SPCA in Enid is a great place to donate or volunteer to help. There are plenty of churches that always want volunteers. Lets make a difference and come together! 😊

Shopping

There are great resale shops along the town square. Pop in and find what ya want because that's all they have to choose from here! TheBuckle, Dillard's, Goody's, Sears, JCPenney and other few places in the mall (which is down the road from WalMart hehe) Cato and Old Navy and Ross are available of the main road...TJ Max is coming soon. Yay! My favorite so far has been Goody's. and not much to say there😊

J-O-B

The word for today is J-O-B! And as for Enid, I have found that there are a multitude of opportunities for employment available. There is people link staffing and tpi staffing agencies. As far as all the listings of good jobs available search indeed.com and do not search CraigsList. The average pay range is $10-$12 per hour around here for women looking in basic clerical positions. Helps you keep busy and pretty nice people in this area! Very friendly town...

There is the small town "good ole boys" club though so it makes it hard to fit in when you are new to the town.

Jumbo Foods- W Willow location

This is the best place in Enid to go grocery shopping. The fresh seafood and meats deli, bakery, cheese selections and the choices are great! No other place compares to this Jumbo! Prices are reasonable and freshness is worth it!

Scheiber's Donut & Deli

So far I've had the donuts- Love em! Warm and soft...just right! And their sausage rolls with mustard...yea you heard right! Mustard? I know weird but really good...they eat them like hot dogs for breakfast here lol! But it made my belly happy😊

Lenox Drive In

OKKKKK!!! Since there is no Whataburger here in Enid...Lenox is the next best thing! Cash only!! Reasonably priced and well worth it! They have great burgers, French fries and tator tots! Not to mention some of the best lemonade I've ever had! Love this over Braums and Sonic which seem to be on every corner I pass in Enid, lol! Gotta try it peeps...yummyπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Costello's

Another fine dine in Enid, OK. $$$ Pricey for the portions and atmosphere involved. I would vote Pane Vino over Costello's because the food is better at Pane Vino. The service was ok at Costello's but excellent at Pane Vino's along with Pane Vino's having the nicer atmosphere. When paying these kind of prices, I do not think Costello's is worth it...There is not much to choose from here in Enid so I guess it's somewhere different to try :) But to be real honest, I probably will not go back.

Pane Vino

Very upscale restaurant for Enid located on the Main square and great food. I would say it is a great place to get dressed up fancy and have a nice romantic dinner or a celebration of any sort. The service was above excellence. The steak and shrimp tasted very fresh and up to par. The atmosphere was very relaxing with a bit of romance...$$$ A bit pricey but well worth it in the end.

Negatives: I don't like to throw out the negatives but sometimes we have to :(

I was not pleased with the taste of water, paying these prices-you should have bottled or filtered water for your guests. Ask for wine...or a glass of tea :)

Social Life Enid, OK

I thought it would be interesting to start a blog about the social life in Enid, Oklahoma. Since I recently moved here and it would seem helpful to other oilfield families and newbies in the area to explore Enid! Along with the many adventures in life I would love to share as far as recipes, shopping, town favorites, dining, attractions and surrounding areas. It seems Enid, Oklahoma has a diverse community with an extremely high rate of new residencies. It is a growing community and the oilfield boom has seemed to heighten the small town's economy. Plenty of people choose Enid, Oklahoma to reside in because it is the great spot to lay your hat rather than the surrounding one horse towns. It is centrally located between the larger areas such as Tulsa, Stillwater and Oklahoma City. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of Enid and cannot wait to explore all it has to offer.
